Stately palm with a slender trunch that swells considerably at the base on mature specimen. Displaying spiky, large fan shaped leaves with laflets up to 1.5m long are borned no spine edged petioles to 1m long. Long sprays of small white flowers are bourne on hanging, branching stems to 3m long and followed by dark brown fruits.
